OWNTHESPOT POLICIES

Paid placement, clear rules and privacy choices.

● HOW THE BOARD WORKS

Simple rules. Visible outcomes.

Every ranked position is a paid placement. These rules explain ranking, listing management and safety review.

1. Four rolling boards

OwnTheSpot maintains daily, weekly, monthly, and yearly boards. Each new verified payment contributes its bid amount for its own full duration, globally and within the listing’s category.

  • Past 24 hours: each new payment lasts 24 hours.
  • Past 7 days: each new payment lasts 7 days.
  • Past 30 days: each new payment lasts 30 days.
  • Past 365 days: each new payment lasts 365 days.
  • An active listing needs at least $5 in unexpired eligible credit to appear. Earlier purchases under the September 5 Terms keep their original calendar expiration. Calendar activity archives remain historical summaries; they are not rolling-board snapshots.

2. Ranking and bidding

Higher current-period bid total ranks first. If two listings have exactly the same total, the listing with more qualified outbound visits during that period ranks first. If they remain tied, the listing that reached the tied total first ranks first.

  • $5 minimum and $5 increments.
  • Up to $1,000 in one checkout at launch.
  • You pay only the additional amount selected. Each payment expires separately; adding a bid does not renew older payments. Hiding or suspension does not pause expiration.
  • A payment buys bid credit, not a guaranteed position. Rankings are not reserved during checkout.
  • Only the listing manager may place additional bids. Automatic bidding is not offered at launch.

3. Listing management

The verified account that submits a listing manages it, including before the first payment. One account may manage multiple listings, each with separate bid totals. Website-control proof is not required, and managing an OwnTheSpot listing does not imply ownership of the destination site.

  • Only one primary email controls an advertiser account at launch.
  • Before activation, the manager may correct the destination URL, name, tagline, and category while review remains pending.
  • After activation, the manager may request a new destination URL, name, or tagline. The current public version remains in place until the complete request passes automated screening and administrator review.
  • A category is chosen before payment and locks after activation. A genuine category correction requires separate review and must not transfer category-board advantage.
  • Managers may hide a live listing immediately without a refund. Reactivation requires a new safety review.
  • Payment toward an existing managed listing never transfers control to the payer.

4. Qualified visits

A qualified visit is a human outbound click through an OwnTheSpot listing link. At most one visit per visitor, per listing, is counted in a rolling 24-hour window. Obvious automation, previews, prefetch requests, repeat activity, and an administrator-designated internal browser are excluded. Privacy-preserving one-way identifiers are used instead of keeping raw network addresses in the application database.

5. Safety review before checkout

New listing text and destinations are screened before payment. Clearly low-risk listings may proceed automatically; uncertain cases enter private administrator review without being charged. Requested changes to an active listing are screened and reviewed before replacing the public version. Optional logo files remain private until an administrator approves them, and rejection falls back to the listing letter mark without publishing the file.

  • Listing names and taglines must be in English at launch; destination websites may use other languages.
  • Taglines must be 10–100 characters and accurately describe the destination.
  • Logos must be a small PNG, JPEG, or WebP image selected by the advertiser; SVG and animated files are not accepted.
  • Adult sexual content, gambling, illegal or controlled products, weapons, hate content, malware, phishing, impersonation, counterfeit goods, deceptive wealth claims, and political or election advocacy are prohibited.
  • Standalone social profiles, empty coming-soon pages, misleading listings, and spam are not eligible.
  • Product URLs using local hosts, embedded credentials, IP addresses, or non-public domains are rejected.

6. Reports, suspension, and refunds

Reports are private attention signals for the administrator; a report or suspicion alone does not automatically change rank or suspend a listing. Confirmed unsafe changes, prohibited content, fraud, or click manipulation may lead to reversible suspension and generally do not qualify for a refund. Duplicate or unauthorized charges, technical mistakes, an incorrect system suspension, or rejection before placement may qualify for a refund after review.

7. Paid-placement disclosure

Every position on a live board is advertising ranked by verified payment. Exact bid totals and qualified visit counts are public. Bid amount does not represent quality, endorsement, ownership, or expected results. A payment has the stated credit duration but does not guarantee a particular position, uninterrupted availability, traffic, customers or revenue.
